Why Interstellar fans will understand the reason for Trehaus

There is a poignant scene — in which viewers will realize that, like the protagonist, we’ve all been lied to.

In the movie, a daughter pleads for her father to stay — instead of leaving on an intergalactic quest to save humanity.

Yet the father chooses to leave — thinking there was no other way.

And as inter-dimensional travel would have it… it was only after it was too late — that Coop (played by Matt Damon) realizes it was his future self — who went back to the present, to prompt him to stay with his children.

If you’ve not watched Interstellar, or contemplated time-travel and wormholes, all the above won’t make sense.

But the following will….

Every day, young children will ask their parents to stay with them.

“Don’t leave. Don’t go to work. Stay with me, Papa. Stay with me, Mama.”

And yet we do… we leave because of a certain felt duty. Sometimes for personal ambition. Sometimes, an obligation to a system and norms that we resist, but don’t reject. And we leave because we think we’ll always come back.

And as we leave, we’ll think it was our children that asked us to stay.

But, time will tell… as this time-traveling movie does… that it is not our children that beg us to stay. It is us.

Our future selves often come back in time — to plead with our present selves to stay… to not leave our children.

But the protagonist in this movie didn’t. And we often don’t. Until it’s too late.

I’m a wormhole-weirdo, a time-travel, quantum realm quirk. And the moment the movie ended, I completely understood the very deep and profound impact that Trehaus is leaving on planet earth.

Two dear friends, are building a space where young children can get the very best education. But what’s most important to me is this… … in the same space, there is a business club where parents can work alongside their children.

That’s why I think the Trehaus Business Club is the perfect office space for me. My wife and kids get to be here — enjoying the school and family club facilities. This way, I get to fulfill on my ambitions and responsibilities — without actually leaving ‘home’.

And my future self is pleased.
