Why Blogging is a Reliable Path to Mastery
Organisation & Mastery
Yesterday, I wrote about why I write…
Anyone can (and should, in my opinion) write for introspection and personal (or private) consumption.
That’s journalling… Not Blogging.
Blogging (unlike journalling) comes with the act of publishing…
Journalling for the world… Yes the world wide web. The whole. wide. world… To see.
Why do we publish? Is it all vanity? Is it futility?
There are two reasons why I choose to publish….
The Practice of Organising Abstract Thought.
Authoring a blog is a perpetual practice in organising one’s thoughts.
At first you have a lot to say… Many concepts and abstract thinking.
Then you organise those thoughts into a coherent passage. And having readers (or the hope / or fear of having readers) motivates you to simplify and organise those thoughts into a logical thesis / argument.
You deal with what to say, and how to say it.
But publishing — has you go one step further… You think about why (is it even useful), to whom is it useful, when you should publish, and where (in how many posts)
More importantly…
The Path to Mastery.
The act of publishing… like the act of declaration… creates a new reality. While a thought, an idea, a proposition, a belief may have existed only in my mind, or a private journal before — publishing them creates a new reality for me.
An idea is no longer just a thought, a string of concepts — it is either a opportunity to create something of value — or not.
A belief is no longer just personal conviction — it is my contribution — one that requires me to spend the very best of my time, creating the very best paradigm I can, for tackling every personal, professional and business challenge.
A promise, or a stand, is no longer a private thought… it is my bond to accountability —
All of that… open to public scrutiny. And scrutiny is like a fire… honing with criticism and conviction (against criticism)… every. single. thing. that I am creating in my life.
And that, to me — is a reliable path to Mastery.
