What I’m Doing Now
This is my version of Derek Siver’s ‘Now’ page. My last update can be found here.
Experiencing Satisfaction
I’ve experienced a very satisfying start to the year, in every aspect of my life. I’m sure there are aspects that I’ve not focused on yet. But all the areas I’ve worked on, and kept in focus – have been extremely satisfying.
Where things turned out the way I wanted them to, I am satisfied with the work leading up to them. Where things didn’t turn out the way I wanted, I am satisfied with the insights and lessons I gained, and my personal responses to them.
Now, I’m working on…
1. The Commissioned
With a new version of The Commissioned relaunched, we are now focused on systemising 1) the growth of our artist community, 2) developing a proposition for bespoke businesses, 3) artist success, 4) user support, 5) user learnings.
2. New Project Launch (Target: February)
We are launching a new product in February – and will focus on executing the go-to-market plan that I wrote for it a couple months ago.
3. Home-base Changes
This coming week, my family is moving out of our current (rented) apartment in Singapore, to another more permanent one (my brother’s house).
This is optimised for our forecasted short-stints in Singapore over the next 2 years (2017+2018).
We are also looking to purchase an apartment for our own stay when we return to Singapore for an extended period starting 2019.
4. Detox
I’ll be undergoing a 5-day wholistic-cleanse / detox program in Phuket later this month; and I’m preparing to review the course material for a leadership/coaching program I attended a few years ago; and to read a book on the subject of mindfulness.
5. De-clutter Project / Fast
On-going work on my ‘De-clutter’ Project – related, and in support of, items #3 and #4 (above).
6. Financial Planning
Stock markets have run up, and the US-dollar has strengthened significantly against the AUD and SGD (which I spend most). I’m not a professional investor (stock-picker; I don’t know what people call it these days), and I hardly review my investments. I did this morning – tracking performance in 2016 – and counted a 18% gain. I think it lagged the market (S&P 500 and STI Index) a little during that time.
I’m working on the restructuring of my portfolio to optimise for income in 2017 and 2018 – that will enable me to travel and experiment (on current businesses and new projects) more.
7. Birthday Planning
I’m planning to celebrate my birthday this year. I hardly did in the past. I don’t really enjoy elaborate parties. But this year – after 2 years away from my home-country where (more importantly) family and friends are – I want to celebrate their influence in my life, and thank them.
