The Lady in the Sidelines

I saw her in the sideline today Out of the corner of my eye

I saw her in the sideline today
Out of the corner of my eye

I had played for hours
Offence and defence
I scored and I missed
I played and she watched

She was a solitary figure
And she looked familiar
We had walked down the aisle once
But today, she stood in the sideline

For as long as I played, she spent the minutes of her life
The minutes had turn into hours, under the rays of the sun
The hours had turned into days, under the light of our covenant
And the days were months, and the months were years

And suddenly I paused in the middle of the game
When everyone was running around me
I found my deepest love
Standing in the sidelines of my life
