First Day. Second Chance.

There’s something universally magical about the first day of a new year — 1st January in any given year — and it’s not because of the fireworks.
It’s a public holiday — but there are dozens in a year.
It’s the first day of the month — but there are 11 others.
It’s the first day of the year — so what?
I believe… it’s the one day, we are gracious enough — to give ourselves a second chance.
Failed at achieving what we said we would do? That was last year. We’re going to start again this year. Disappointed in someone, or a relationship? Perhaps we can start afresh. Regretted something? Well, nothing is permanent.
I tend to be especially hard on myself, and hard on people I feel most connected and related to… people I actually love. It’s in all the personality assessments I’ve ever taken.
So — over time, I’ve worked on myself — to learn how to perform multiple ‘resets’ anytime during the year.
But New Year’s Day is special. It reminds us of the joy of embracing second chances together. And we all need second chances — more than the ones we give ourselves on the first of January.
Happy New Year my friends…
