Day 4.

A quick report on the de-cluttering process

  • Physiological/Health – 1 Flat White, 1 Kale Juice, 1 Coconut, 1 Naan, 1 Bowl of Bone Broth, 6 Bite-sized Crackers and Cheese.

I’m conducting this month-long fast (see post below) a little differently. I’m not exacting unbreakable rules for my fast. I choose to eat a little to quell my hunger, but I eat slowly and consume very little — stopping the moment the hunger is gone. As a result, I don’t let hunger impact my productivity, and I’m seeing a spike in energy, and possibly alertness (from not spending energy digesting excess food). I also don’t wind up affecting the conversations when I head out for lunch with my team (imagine what goes on in everyone’s mind when I’m the only one not eating). I don’t claim that this is the ‘right’ way to fast, or even a better way to fast. I’m just describing my experience.

  • Material – Threw away something (again). Without this commitment to a public account, I would most likely have skipped this step today.
  • Mental – Still off Facebook. And when I was sent a couple of online news via WhatsApp, I ignored them. Habits are starting to form.
  • Relationships – Still not working on ‘cleaning up’ unfulfilled commitments, addressing unmet expectations… (www.melvinyuan/integrity) Clearly this area draws the least of my attention. Not for lack of interest, but because I did not create a simple enough task; and because we’re working on something intensely this week.
